My education is in literature and creative writing, and I've spent most of my life working in the arts. Over the last few years, I've learned to meld these aspects of my life into an integral skill set that includes music journalism, marketing copy, and creative writing.
Music Journalism
My goal as a music writer is to introduce fans to bands and artists whose genres are outside of their typical comfort zone. Whether writing a column, a feature story or critique, my main focus is on helping artists tell their stories in ways that won't give away all their secrets: that's what the music is for.
Copywriting, Web Content
Over the last few years, I've written, proofread and edited marketing and catalog copy for companies and organizations like the University of Washington and Pokemon, Inc. This work has also included Web content management and organization, and the development of creative marketing concepts for the Web.
Creative Writing
I've composed numerous short stories—two of which have actually been published—and over 100 songs and poems. I've also written three novels, and am currently seeking publication for those.
